In July 1971, Dr. Settle transitioned from his role as a reserve to active duty in the United States Navy. His tenure in the Navy was marked by extensive training in various medical disciplines, including submarine medicine, diving, and hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Settle served nine years of active duty and continued his dedication to the Navy in the United States Naval Reserve from 1980 until his retirement in 1993. After 27 years of service, he retired with the permanent grade of Captain.
In 1980, Dr. Settle joined the Medical Art Clinic in Corsicana, where he worked in the ophthalmology department. His career took a significant step forward when he joined Broberg Eye Care in November 1999. Dr. Settle's education, experience, and professional demeanor have been invaluable assets to the practice, earning him admiration from both staff and patients.
Throughout his career, Dr. Settle has been the recipient of numerous accolades. He was honored with the "Top Ten Student" award in 1967, recognized by Austin Monthly Magazine as one of Austin's "Best Doctors," and selected as one of the "Best Doctors in America." His professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Settle's personal achievements are equally impressive. He considers his wife Donna, his four children, and his grandchild to be his greatest accomplishments.

After serving as a reserve for the United States Navy for four years, Dr. Settle began active duty with the Navy in July of 1971. Throughout his career with the Navy, Dr. Settle completed his residency training in ophthalmology and took additional medical courses, including submarine medicine, diving, and hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Settle served on active duty for nine years, and then continued his services in the United States Naval Reserve from 1980 until 1993. After 27 years of military service, Dr. Settle retired from the United States Navy with the permanent grade of Captain. In 1980, Dr. Settle began work at the Medical Art Clinic in Corsicana, where he worked in the ophthalmology department. Dr. Settle worked there until joining us at Broberg Eye Care in November of 1999. Since joining us, Dr. Settle has been a great asset to our eye care practice.
